JOB TITLE: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
To provide overall planning, direction, management, and leadership of Emma Norton Services(ENS) – Emma Norton Residence and Emma’s Place. To oversee administration of programs and facilities and assure compliance with all regulatory requirements. To advance the organization through oversight of fundraising, marketing, and public relations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recommends to the Board and Committees ENS policies, procedures, and programs; implements, monitors, and revises the same with Board approval.
- Assures compliance with all policies, standards, applicable governmental regulations, and General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church requirements.
- Manages all ENS human resources including: recruitment, selection, placement, training, supervision, evaluation, promotion, transfer, and separation of staff.
- Manages all fixed assets including maintenance of property and grounds.
- Assures production and preservation of all required legal and historical records.
- Manages ENS fiscal resources by assuring annual budgets are prepared and monitored in an appropriate and timely manner; by managing accounting practices and procedures; and by ensuring compliance with all ENS policies, applicable governmental regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assures preparation of annual, comprehensive development plans to address acquisition of funds and expansion of the donor base.
- Implements annual fundraising plans, oversees grant requests, solicits potential donors, and speaks at fundraising events..
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with major supporters including individuals, faith communities, foundations, corporations, and agencies.
- Serves as the primary spokesperson for ENS responding to public inquires, collaborative opportunities, media, and others interested in ENS.
- Cultivates relationships with outside agencies and enhances the visibility of ENS through interviews, articles for publication, and media development for staff.
- Implements directives of and reports to the Board of Directors on their corporate and legal fiduciary responsibilities.
- Provides the Board accurate and timely information on finances, programs, and advancement of ENS as well as relevant legislative activity and trends.
- Serves as staff liaison to the Executive and Personnel Committees and provides other committees with necessary information, data, and staff support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Commitment to and ability to communicate the mission and values of ENS.
- Baccalaureate degree required; master’s degree in relevant discipline desirable.
- Significant, relevant, and progressively more challenging management and leadership experience.
- Planning, development, and program administration experience.
- Good communication and computer skills.
- Ability to mesh faith commitment and business sense in an established National Mission Institution related to the United Methodist Church.
STATUS AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
- Full-time, exempt position.
- Reports to the Board of Directors and serves as an ex-officio member.
